The ruling Democratic Party of Korea plans to persistently pursue the ‘Kim Geun-hee Special Prosecutor Law,’ which was twice rejected due to President Yoon Suk-yeol’s exercising of the right to reject a re-vote, as a permanent special prosecutor. Along with the Kim Geun-hee Special Prosecutor Law, they also intend to push for a national investigation process, while reinstating the ‘Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Law,’ which faced a third rejection after being sent back for re-vote.

During a press conference on the 6th, Park Chan-dae, the parliamentary leader of the Democratic Party, criticized the ruling party for turning a blind eye to the people’s demands regarding Kim Geun-hee’s controversial land deal. Park emphasized the need to promptly reintroduce the Kim Geun-hee Special Prosecutor Law and the Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Law to reveal the truth behind the suspicions. Additionally, he expressed the party’s commitment to conducting a national inquiry related to external pressure in the investigation of the Chae Sang-byeong case.

Furthermore, Park asserted that by utilizing the permanent special prosecutor system, they can swiftly conduct investigations without the need for individual bills, providing a more efficient process. In his warning to the opposition party leader, Park highlighted the consequences of obstructing investigations that might lead to public outrage and jeopardize their political legacy. The Democratic Party’s determination to uncover the truth behind these controversies stems from their commitment to upholding justice and accountability in the nation.
