Western Nations’ Ongoing Support for Israel: An Analysis
Despite international calls for a cease-fire one year after the Israeli-Palestinian conflict escalated in the Gaza Strip, Western nations like the US, UK, Germany, France, and Italy continue to provide strong political and military support to Israel. These countries have pledged support for Israel’s right to defend itself and its people.
The US vetoed UN Security Council resolutions urging for a humanitarian pause in Gaza and refrained from condemning Israel’s attacks. European countries, such as Germany and the UK, have also shown unwavering support for Israel by providing military aid and weapons exports. The US approved a $95 billion foreign military aid package for Israel, and Israel received a $8.7 billion American war aid package.
Despite the high number of civilian casualties in Gaza, Western nations maintain their support for Israel, raising questions about the humanitarian concerns in the conflict.
