Tragic Incident at Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant
An explosive device was planted under a vehicle owned by a security staff member at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, resulting in a fatal car explosion that killed a senior security staff member, Andrey Korotky, on Friday morning. The incident was reported by the Investigative Committee of Russia, with Ukraine’s military intelligence mentioning the occurrence on Telegram.
Russian investigators revealed that the improvised explosive device was strategically placed under Korotky’s personal vehicle, causing the fatal explosion. Ukraine’s military intelligence agency condemned Korotky as a “war criminal” and a “collaborationist” for allegedly supporting Russia and participating in events in favor of the Russian army.
The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant confirmed the staff member’s death and informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) about the tragic incident. The plant’s director condemned the act as a heinous terrorist offense and demanded justice for those responsible.
The Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case for murder but did not disclose any suspects. The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant has been under Russian control since March 2022, amidst ongoing conflicts between Moscow and Kiev.
