Sherani Deputy Commissioner escapes armed assault in Pakistan

Deputy Commissioner Survives Attack in Balochistan

On Thursday, the deputy commissioner of Sherani district narrowly escaped an attack by unidentified armed men in Tang Haiderzai area of Qila Saifullah district in Balochistan. Sana Mahjabeen Umrani was traveling to Sherani with her security detail when the assailants opened fire on their convoy. Fortunately, the deputy commissioner’s security guards were able to return fire, prompting the attackers to flee after a heavy exchange of gunfire.

Although one of the Levies Force vehicles was hit by bullets during the attack, no security personnel were injured. Deputy Commissioner Sana Mahjabeen Umrani safely reached her destination with the assistance of a heavy contingent of security forces. Following the incident, security forces cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation to apprehend the attackers.

This incident comes on the heels of another attack on a government official, highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the region. In August, Panjgur deputy commissioner Zakir Hussain Baloch lost his life in a similar attack, underscoring the dangers faced by officials in Balochistan.
