PM Pashinyan meets Canadian PM Trudeau in Paris

During the 19th summit of the International Organization of Francophonie, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Trudeau expressed pleasure in meeting Pashinyan and highlighted the growing relations between the two countries, people-to-people contacts, and the strong Armenian community in Canada. Pashinyan, in turn, emphasized the importance of the newly opened Canadian embassy in Yerevan and its potential to boost bilateral relations.

The leaders discussed regional developments, democratic reforms in Armenia, and economic cooperation, with Trudeau supporting Armenia’s democratic reforms and expressing hope for enhanced economic ties. Pashinyan introduced the “Crossroads of Peace” project, outlining Armenia’s readiness for unblocking based on principles of sovereignty and equality.

Trudeau welcomed the project, emphasizing the need for consistent efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region. The meeting highlighted the commitment of both leaders to strengthening ties and promoting peace in the region.
