Pakistani Cabinet Approves Land Reforms Bill, Formation of 4 Districts

The Gilgit-Baltistan Cabinet recently approved vital decisions during its session chaired by Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan. The approval of the Land Reforms Bill 2024 was a significant highlight, with plans for it to be presented in the assembly for adoption. Additionally, the creation of four new districts and other key issues were deliberated.

The Cabinet also sanctioned funds for a water diversion project in Skardu to address irrigation and drinking water shortages. Furthermore, approval was granted for land compensation and the formulation of a Child Protection Policy to safeguard children from exploitation and abuse in the region.

On the security front, an extension in the deployment of civil armed forces was approved, along with the formation of a committee to enhance the capacity of local forces for ensuring internal peace.

These decisions showcase the government’s commitment to addressing crucial issues and fostering development in Gilgit-Baltistan.
