Urgent Appeal to WHO and UN to Stop Israeli Attacks on Hospitals in Lebanon

The International Lebanese Medical Association has issued an urgent appeal to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UN to intervene and stop the Israeli forces’ “massacre” of Lebanon’s health care system. Several hospitals, including Marjayoun Governmental Hospital and Mays al-Jabal Governmental Hospital, are no longer operational due to Israeli attacks.

The association emphasized the need to protect health care workers and facilities and called for the evacuation of patients and medical personnel from Salah Ghandoor Hospital. Israeli airstrikes have reportedly killed 97 medical and emergency personnel in Lebanon since September 23, causing damage to over 10 hospitals.

The organization stated that these actions violate UN charters and human rights, particularly regarding the right to medical care and hospitalization. It called for immediate intervention to stop these criminal practices against the wounded, medical staff, and the healthcare sector.

The international community has warned that Israeli attacks in Lebanon could escalate the Gaza conflict into a wider regional war. It is crucial for the WHO and the UN to take action to protect the health care system in Lebanon.
