Makinde vows to implement N70,000 minimum wage

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has announced plans to start paying the N70,000 minimum wage once the issue of consequential salary adjustment is resolved. This commitment was shared by his Special Adviser on Media in Ibadan.

Furthermore, Governor Makinde extended the N25,000 wage award to workers and the N15,000 wage award to pensioners for an additional three months to cover ongoing negotiations. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing the welfare of teachers and civil servants in order to maintain productivity.

The governor expressed gratitude to teachers for their support and contributions to the state. He reassured his dedication to improving educational infrastructure to ensure a better future for Oyo State.

In addition to focusing on education, Governor Makinde highlighted plans to address infrastructural gaps with an annual education intervention fund of at least N10 billion. He also emphasized the need to employ more teachers and provide conducive learning environments for students.

Commissioning a block of 10 classrooms at the NUT Model School, the governor reiterated his commitment to improving inner roads and received praise from the state NUT Chairman for his achievements in the education sector and support for teachers’ welfare.
