Jordan joins int’l conference on government financial management

Jordan recently participated in a prestigious conference organized by the International Consortium on Governmental Financial Management in Washington. The event brought together over 100 experts from 30 nations to discuss important government financial matters.

One of the keynote speakers at the conference was Mahmoud Khliefat, the Director General of the Government Tenders Department (GTD) in Jordan. Khliefat highlighted Jordan’s significant government achievements and financial reforms, specifically focusing on the modernization of the government procurement system in recent years.

During his presentation, Khliefat emphasized key projects, initiatives, and sectoral plans that align with Jordan’s economic modernization vision and goals. He also discussed the country’s efforts in supporting small and medium enterprises, promoting sustainable and green procurement policies, and empowering women, youth, and people with disabilities in government procurement.

Khliefat also shed light on the adoption of guides for evaluating contractors’ performance and detailed digital transformation in purchasing procedures, including the implementation of the Jordan ONline E-Procurement System (JONEPS).

This conference provided a platform for Jordan to showcase its advancements in government procurement and financial management on the international stage.
