As tensions rise in the Middle East, South Korea takes swift action to evacuate its citizens from Lebanon. A military transport aircraft safely brought 97 individuals, including family members, back to Seoul on Saturday.
President Yoon Suk Yeol’s directive on Wednesday led to the deployment of military aircraft for the evacuation mission. Concerns over escalating conflicts between Israel, Hezbollah, and Iran prompted this decisive action.
In addition to the KC-330 aircraft used for the evacuation, a C130J transport plane was on standby for any potential emergencies. With 39 military personnel onboard, including mechanics and diplomats, the operation was well-prepared for any situation.
The South Korean government remains committed to ensuring the safety of its citizens in the region. While diplomats on the ground in Lebanon continue their work, further strategies are being considered to safeguard all South Korean nationals.
