Clashes in Pakistan: Interior Minister Warns of Strict Action Against PTI Protesters

Interior Minister Mohsin Maqvi issued a stern warning of tough actions against PTI protesters following clashes between police and party supporters. A total of 564 individuals were arrested, including 120 Afghans and 11 KP police officers. The arrest claims of KP CM were retracted by PTI as confusion clouded the situation. Army deployment in Punjab was announced as tensions continued.

Maqvi commended the police for their restraint during the clashes and promised strict action against those involved. The situation remained tense in the capital and Rawalpindi, with mobile networks suspended, roads blocked, and schools closed. Despite hurdles, PTI activists gathered for protests, defying Section 144 restrictions.

The protests escalated with PTI activists clashing with law enforcement officials, resulting in arrests and injuries. Meanwhile, the KP CM’s arrival in Islamabad added fuel to the fire, leading to more chaos. The situation led to the postponement of Imran Khan’s indictment in a graft case.

With Punjab sealing Lahore amid a ban on rallies, the deployment of army troops to maintain law and order was ordered. The ongoing unrest underscores the escalating tension and political turmoil in Pakistan.
