Imran Khan’s Supporters Flood Islamabad Despite Police Resistance

Incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s supporters flooded Pakistan’s capital Islamabad despite blocked roads and the police using tear gas. Thousands of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members arrived in the city after spending the night on the Islamabad-Peshawar motorway.

Protesters were led by Ali Amin Gandapur, chief minister of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, and faced resistance from the police. Despite reports of arrests, state-run Pakistan Television denied the claims. The government warned of consequences if protesters disrupt the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.

The PTI is demanding the release of the jailed former prime minister and calling for the independence of the judiciary. Imran Khan, currently imprisoned in Rawalpindi, denies multiple charges. The army has been deployed to ensure security during the summit.

Mobile internet service has been suspended, and entry points to Islamabad have been blocked. The PTI remains determined in their protests, seeking justice and constitutional protection.
