Global protests planned to commemorate one year of Israeli Gaza attack

Pro-Palestine Protests Planned Worldwide to Mark Anniversary of Gaza Assault

Protestors are gearing up to mark the first anniversary of Israel’s assault on the Gaza Strip with demonstrations in cities around the globe. The assault resulted in the deaths of over 41,000 Palestinians and injuries to close to 100,000. The protests will also condemn Israel’s strikes on Lebanon, where nearly 2,000 people have been killed and over 9,000 wounded in recent weeks.

In Australia, protests are planned in Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney, despite initial attempts by police to cancel the gatherings. Last-minute negotiations resulted in a new route approved for the Sydney protest, avoiding conflict near a Jewish synagogue. Protest organisers hailed the decision as a victory for their right to assemble.

Meanwhile, London will see a march demanding an end to the UK’s complicity in Israel’s actions, while protests are scheduled in Washington, Los Angeles, New York, Indianapolis, and Houston. College campus groups are also organizing events, despite restrictions imposed by authorities following last year’s protests.
