Pakistan Federal Government Issues Warning to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province

The federal government of Pakistan has made a significant decision to formally warn the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under Article 149 of the constitution. This warning entails restraining the provincial government from using government machinery and resources.

After approval from the prime minister, the federal cabinet will endorse this decision, and instructions will be issued to the province accordingly. This move aims to prevent the provincial government from affecting the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s summit scheduled in Islamabad in October.

Furthermore, sources have dismissed speculations about imposing governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Instead, the federal government may direct officers in the province not to follow any unlawful orders under Article 149 of the constitution.
