Defense Minister Nikos Dendias commended the Muslim minority of Thrace, describing them as an essential part of the region’s Hellenic identity. He shared these sentiments during a visit to Xanthi to mark the city’s 105th anniversary of liberation.
Dendias reaffirmed Greece’s dedication to fostering a cohesive society and expressed optimism regarding Thrace’s future prosperity and role in the area. The festivities included a wreath-laying ceremony at the city’s memorial and a military parade with student and cultural group participation.
The event was attended by dignitaries, Xanthi MPs, the local bishop, and military leaders.
