CM vows to eliminate polio from Sindh – Pakistan

The Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, expressed concern over the seven polio cases detected in the province this year and reaffirmed his commitment to eradicating the poliovirus. He emphasized the importance of improving immunization rates by involving elected representatives to address vaccine refusal cases in high-risk areas.

During a provincial meeting, Irshad Ali Sodhar, the provincial coordinator of the Emergency Operations Centre, briefed the CM on the current polio situation, highlighting the need for coordinated efforts to reach every child. Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuhu discussed the success of recent immunization campaigns that vaccinated over 9.4 million children.

The CM praised frontline workers and stakeholders for their dedication, recognizing the progress made towards a polio-free future. He appealed to parents to support efforts in protecting their children from this disease which poses a grave threat to future generations.

Overall, the meeting focused on the challenges faced in different divisions and the measures being taken to ensure complete immunization coverage, with a goal of eliminating the threat of polio in Sindh.
