The Bosnian Football Association (NFSBIH) has made the tough decision to postpone all matches in its affiliated competitions following devastating floods and landslides that have claimed the lives of at least 16 individuals in the country. The emergency meeting highlighted the destruction caused by torrential rain and landslides, with search operations still ongoing for missing persons.
Multiple clubs have suffered infrastructure damage, with third-tier side Brnjaci seeking assistance from the local community after its home ground was submerged and club premises were flooded. Despite the challenges, the club expressed gratitude for the support received in repairing the damage.
The municipality of Jablanica remains severely affected, with many individuals still missing or trapped under rubble. Bosnia’s Civil Defence has requested military aid, and the Bosnian-Croat Federation has declared a state of natural disaster in the flood-affected areas.
The central government has pledged funds for recovery, while neighboring countries like Croatia and Serbia have extended support. The recent floods in Bosnia highlight the impact of climate change, following a summer drought that led to a series of environmental crises across Europe.
