Borrell blames Israel for worsening conflict

In a bold critique, Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of escalating conflict and withholding aid from Gaza intentionally. Speaking on Spanish radio, Borrell expressed concerns over Israel’s response to the recent Iranian attack, warning that any strike on Iranian nuclear facilities could spark a global war involving other major powers like Russia and China.

Furthermore, Borrell accused Netanyahu of seeking war to advance his agenda and criticized Israel’s restrictions on humanitarian aid to Gaza. As his term nears its end, Borrell will be succeeded by Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, known for her pro-Ukraine stance and neutral approach to foreign policy issues. Kallas advocates for increased Western support for Ukraine, drawing parallels with Israel’s military success. Her appointment aims to restore balance to EU foreign policy, which has been criticized for being one-sided under Borrell’s leadership.
