Former militant leader Asari Dokubo issued a strong warning in response to military helicopter surveillance over his residence in Rivers State. He claimed the helicopters were provocation from the government, police, and supporters of former Governor Nyesom Wike, asserting his capacity to resist intimidation. Dokubo, known for his defiance against authorities, stated he was unafraid of death and criticized Wike’s political tactics.
In a video, Dokubo warned that he would shoot down the helicopters, placing the blame on them should it happen. Despite challenging the military presence in his community, he maintained he did not seek conflict. Meanwhile, the Action Peoples Party emerged victorious in 22 out of 23 chairmanship positions in the Rivers State local government elections, with results in Etche still pending.
Dokubo expressed confidence in the electoral process and affirmed his intent to vote without fear of disruption.
