Yazidi Woman Rescued from Gaza Reunites with Family in Iraq
Yazidi woman Fawzia Amin, rescued from Gaza, recounted her harrowing ordeal of being kidnapped by ISIS as a child from Sinjar, Iraq. After being trafficked through several countries, she ended up in Gaza where life was unbearable until her rescue. A complex political-diplomatic process led to her freedom, coordinated with Israel’s COGAT.
A Palestinian ISIS supporter purchased her in Syria, brought her to Gaza, where she was forced to bear his children. Following his death, his family continued to hold her hostage until her recent release.
