Unravel Rights Activist’s Mysterious Disappearance in Juba

One year has passed since South Sudanese human rights activist Biar Ajak Marol disappeared under unclear circumstances in Juba on October 4, 2023. The 26-year-old Executive Director of Junubin Chronicles had been advocating for the rights of South Sudanese youth through music.

Visiting Marol’s mother at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya was an emotional experience. His family, friends, and the wider South Sudanese community are still seeking answers from the government and security agencies regarding his disappearance.

His car was found abandoned near the Freedom Bridge on the River Nile, leading to various theories about what happened to him. His mother, filled with tears and pleading for information, stirs up emotions among those who knew Marol.

Journalist Emmanuel Malual Makuach calls for a revival of the investigation into Marol’s disappearance to provide closure to his loved ones and the community. The South Sudanese government’s transparency on the matter is crucial to dispel rumors and bring clarity to his fate.
