The “Sudan Ship,” carrying 2,500 tons of relief materials as part of a partnership between Türkiye and Kuwait, docked in Port Sudan. Sudanese officials, including Culture and Information Minister Graham Abdelkader and Transport Minister Abubakr Abu al-Qasim, welcomed the aid ship. Turkey’s Ambassador to Sudan, Fatih Yildiz, and the Charge d’Affaires of the Kuwaiti Embassy in Khartoum, Mohammed Ibrahim al-Hamed, were also present.
Sudan’s Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid, Selva Adem, commended Kuwait and Türkiye for their support and pledged to distribute the aid to those in need. Adem emphasized Sudan’s ongoing need for assistance post-conflict. Yildiz expressed Ankara’s solidarity with Sudan, underscoring the importance of drawing global attention to the humanitarian crisis in the country.
The aid, costing over $2 million, was provided by the Kuwait Relief Society under the directive of Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Al-Hamed assured continued support from Kuwait until Sudan overcomes its challenges.
