Turkey won’t permit region’s division, Erdogan assures

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned against a new agreement similar to the divisive Sykes-Picot Agreement, stating that Turkey will not allow the region to be torn apart again. The Sykes-Picot Agreement, signed in 1916 by Britain and France, delineated spheres of influence in the Middle East after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire.

Erdogan spoke out against the current situation in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon, accusing the Israeli government of perpetuating violence and instability in the region. He criticized Western powers for providing support to Israel’s actions, which have resulted in thousands of deaths and displacements.

In response to ongoing Israeli attacks, Erdogan called for an immediate cease-fire and accused Israel of genocide in Gaza. He expressed concern that the conflict could escalate into a wider regional war, urging the international community to intervene.
