Southeast’s Potential to Boost National Economy

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, emphasized the potential of the Southeast region in driving national and economic development. Speaking at the launch of the 5th Expanded National MSME Clinic in Enugu State, he highlighted the entrepreneurial spirit and rich commercial history of the area.

The MSME Clinic is part of the government’s efforts to improve the business environment in Nigeria, with previous editions held in different states. Kalu stated that the location of the 5th edition in Enugu showcases the region’s importance in national economic growth through MSMEs.

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their commitment to supporting small businesses. Kalu also praised Governor Peter Mbah for prioritizing SMEs in Enugu. He reiterated the House of Representatives’ support for economic growth and entrepreneurship through legislative actions.

Kalu acknowledged the funds established to support businesses across the nation and highlighted the significance of Enugu as a hub for entrepreneurship in the South East. He emphasized the importance of fostering a conducive legislative framework for initiatives like the MSME Clinics.

The event symbolized collective efforts towards sustaining MSMEs in Nigeria and driving sustainable growth under President Tinubu’s leadership. The establishment of funding schemes demonstrates the government’s recognition of the vital role played by MSMEs in the country’s economy.
