Passenger cap violates US-EU Open Skies Deal.

Passenger cap violates US-EU Open Skies Deal.

An organisation representing US airlines, Airlines for America, has joined the legal action against the Irish aviation regulator’s decision to restrict slots at Dublin Airport this winter due to a passenger cap. This move is seen as a violation of the US-EU Open Skies Agreement. The decision by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) has sparked concerns among airlines like daa, Ryanair, and Aer Lingus.

Airlines for America, which includes major airlines like American Airlines and Delta, stated that the passenger cap at Dublin Airport could lead to irreparable damage to US airlines, Dublin Airport, and the Irish economy. The High Court has granted the parties permission to challenge the IAA’s decision, which limits the total number of passenger seats at the airport.

This development puts pressure on the Irish government to resolve the issue before the case is heard in full on 3 December. Stay tuned for updates on this critical transatlantic aviation issue!
