Jordan stands by Guterres amid Israeli government backlash

Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates reaffirmed its firm support for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres amid Israeli government’s attacks on him. The Ministry emphasized Guterres’ vital role in upholding international peace and security, as well as the UN Charter and its resolutions.

Ambassador Sufian Qudah, the ministry’s spokesperson, stated that insulting the UN Secretary-General is unacceptable. He stressed the importance of Israel adhering to international law, humanitarian law, and UN resolutions.

Jordan firmly opposes any attempts to undermine the authority of the UN and its affiliated bodies. Ambassador Qudah lauded Guterres’ consistent adherence to international law and the UN Charter as crucial for maintaining security, peace, and stability in the region.
