Israel sealed off Lebanon’s main border crossing with Syria and targeted Beirut’s suburbs in a recent intense attack, sparking fears of an all-out conflict with Hezbollah. U.S. President Joe Biden mentioned the possibility of Israel striking Iran’s oil facilities in response. Lebanese Transport Minister reported a strike on the border with Syria, creating a large crater. The Israeli Defense Forces accused Hezbollah of using the crossing to transport weapons into Lebanon, while Hezbollah targeted Israeli troops at the border. The air raids targeted Hezbollah official Hashem Safieddine, with uncertain results.

Lebanese civilians faced constant fear as airstrikes continued. A UNHCR official expressed concerns about the worsening conditions for those affected by the conflict. Israeli military urged residents in southern towns to evacuate, and several Hezbollah positions in Israel were attacked. Iran’s Foreign Minister arrived in Beirut for meetings, as tension escalated in the region.

“It’s like you’re alive but not alive. We’re alive but don’t know for how long, we’re alive but don’t know when the rockets will hit you and your family,” said a displaced resident. The conflict escalated as Israel targeted key figures, sparking concerns of retaliation and further violence in the region.
