Israel intensifies Gaza offensive, dozens killed – World news

Israeli forces have intensified airstrikes in Gaza, resulting in numerous Palestinian casualties. Shelters, schools, and orphanages were targeted, amplifying the civilian death toll. The Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza was hit, causing fatalities and injuries. An Israeli helicopter attacked a tent housing displaced civilians near a school in Deir el-Balah, with artillery shelling reported in Maghazi refugee camp.

Despite the violence, the United Nations is gearing up for a second round of polio vaccinations for 640,000 children in Gaza. The first round, launched in September, achieved 90% immunization coverage for children under 10. This initiative is crucial following the detection of a poliovirus case in August, the first in 25 years in the region.

Moreover, Israeli forces imposed a curfew in Hebron, West Bank, and detained young Palestinians. In Lebanon, Israeli airstrikes in central Beirut caused fatalities, while clashes between Hezbollah and Israeli forces in southern Lebanon led to casualties on both sides.
