Israel launched heavy airstrikes targeting Beirut’s southern suburbs and cutting off the main border crossing between Lebanon and Syria amid escalating conflict with Hezbollah. The strikes followed warnings for residents to evacuate areas outside the U.N.-designated buffer zone.
Israeli forces clashed with Hezbollah members in a ground incursion into Lebanon on Tuesday, leading to the death of key figures, including Hassan Nasrallah. Overnight blasts in Beirut caused massive plumes of smoke and flames, with no immediate information on casualties.
The airstrikes also closed the Masnaa Border Crossing, disrupting the flow of people fleeing Lebanon to Syria. The crossing was targeted after claims of Hezbollah transporting military equipment through it.
The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has led to daily cross-border skirmishes, while violence across the occupied territories has increased since the initial clashes. Both Lebanon and Palestine have seen heavy casualties as the conflict continues.
