Iran’s FM visits Beirut – Politics Update

The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, made a significant visit to Beirut, arriving at the Rafik Hariri International Airport on board an Iranian plane. Araqchi is slated to hold meetings with Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and speaker of parliament Nabih Berri, discussing the latest developments in Lebanon and the regional situation.

His visit is particularly timely as it coincides with Israeli attacks on Beirut, with airstrikes targeting the southern suburb of Mrayjeh. In response, the Israeli military has ordered residents of 20 southern Lebanese towns to evacuate, hinting at a potential escalation of hostilities.

Araqchi’s arrival underscores Iran’s continued interest and involvement in the region amid escalating tensions. His discussions with Lebanese officials carry implications for regional dynamics at a crucial juncture.
