Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, dismissed allegations of Iran trying to influence the US elections on November 5. Baqaei described these claims as “hackneyed and baseless”, with political motives and domestic applications in mind. He pointed out the US government’s history of interfering in other countries’ internal affairs, making it hypocritical to accuse Iran.
The statement follows the US Department of Homeland Security’s release of the 2025 homeland threat assessment on October 2, which highlighted concerns about Russia, Iran, and China attempting to influence the elections. The report specifically targeted Iran, accusing it of aggressive foreign influence efforts and seeking to sow discord and undermine confidence in American democracy.
Baqaei’s rejection of these allegations is a firm response to what Iran perceives as unfounded accusations. As tensions between countries rise, it is crucial to scrutinize claims and consider the political motivations behind them.
