Fires at Oil Depots in Voronezh Oblast and Perm Krai, Russia

Two oil depots in Russia’s Voronezh Oblast and Perm Krai were engulfed in fires overnight on Oct. 4, according to local authorities. The Russian Defense Ministry claimed to have downed several Ukrainian drones over various regions, including Voronezh Oblast and the Azov Sea.

The governor of Voronezh Oblast reported that an empty tank at an oil storage facility was hit during the drone attack but was extinguished later. A massive fire also erupted at an oil depot in Perm Krai, with the flames spreading over 10,000 square meters.

Fortunately, there were no reported casualties in either incident. Ukrainian forces have recently been targeting Russia’s oil industry with drone strikes, aiming to disrupt Moscow’s war efforts. The Kyiv Independent could not independently verify Russia’s claims.

In a related development, Ukrainian drones reportedly struck a Russian airfield in Voronezh Oblast, targeting warehouses with aerial bombs, aircraft hangars, and aviation fuel storage facilities. The ongoing tensions and incidents highlight the escalating conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
