Kadri Tali, the head of the Estonian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), has urged PACE to create an action plan for the return of children removed from Ukraine to Russia and for missing children. She highlighted the grave situation where over 700,000 Ukrainian children have been taken to Russia, impacting the nation’s future and identity. Tali emphasized the urgency of the crisis, stressing that every delay has devastating consequences.
She called on the international community to take swift and decisive action to address this issue, pointing out that the separation of children from their homeland and parents leads to irreversible consequences. Drawing on Estonia’s history and personal experiences, Tali condemned the situation in Ukraine as genocide.
The creation of the Parliamentary network on Ukrainian children in PACE aims to unite member states and international partners to apply sanctions and political pressure on Russia. Tali’s impassioned plea highlights the necessity of immediate action to prevent further loss and suffering.
