Election to be called ‘once Govt work completed’

Taoiseach Simon Harris has reassured the public that a general election will only be called “when the work of Government is finished” and in a collaborative manner. He emphasized that seeking a dissolution of Dáil Éireann is a decision he takes seriously as a Taoiseach.

Mr. Harris stated that he will not be providing constant updates on when the election will be held, asserting that it will happen “in due course” and with a focus on collegiality. He also addressed the ongoing campaigning by political parties as the government nears its end.

Following Tánaiste Micheál Martin’s remarks about the election timing, the Taoiseach reiterated the importance of completing tasks such as passing the finance bill, social welfare bill, mental health bill, defamation bill, and meeting housing targets.
