Protecting Government Assets: Edo State Deputy Governor Issues Stern Warning

With the end of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration approaching, Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has issued a strong message to Permanent Secretaries and heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to prevent the looting of government properties by political appointees.

Shaibu emphasized that missing assets will not go unnoticed, and those responsible will be held accountable by the incoming administration. He specifically mentioned that political appointees, including the Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Commissioners, Special Advisers, and Assistants, must refrain from any actions that could result in the removal of government-owned items or fixed properties.

As the administration prepares to transition, Shaibu stressed the importance of vigilance in safeguarding state assets and warned of serious consequences for those who fail to protect government properties. The Deputy Governor’s message serves as a reminder of the need for a smooth handover of government assets to ensure continuity and efficiency under the new administration.
