A Chinese envoy emphasized the importance of dialogue and unity among Somali parties to resolve differences. China’s deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, Dai Bing, highlighted the progress made by Somalia in reconstruction and peace efforts, urging continued international support.
Dai stressed the need for political stability, security transition, and orderly advancement of UN missions in Somalia. He called for funding support for the upcoming AU mission transition and urged the Security Council to consider sustainable financial options.
China supports Somalia’s peace and development process and will continue to assist in international peacekeeping operations. Dai also urged the smooth transition of UNSOM to a UN country team, aligning with Somalia’s national priorities for autonomous development and stability.
