Armenia recently conducted a field training exercise in collaboration with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency of the U.S. Department of Defense to enhance its capabilities in countering weapons of mass destruction (WMDs). The exercise, coordinated by the Armenian Security Council, aimed to assess Armenia’s response mechanisms to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats (CBRN defense).
This “unprecedented” exercise involved 10 agencies of the state administration system responsible for CBRN defense response. The training included 6 scenarios of CBRN-related emergency situations to evaluate Armenia’s preparedness. The scenarios ranged from real-life conditions to simulated ones.
The outcome of the exercise will provide insights into Armenia’s strengths and weaknesses in responding to CBRN incidents. This evaluation will help strengthen Armenia’s overall capabilities in dealing with such threats in the future.
