In response, IDF soldiers shut down Al Jazeera’s Ramallah offices for 45 days, citing concerns over biased coverage of Palestinian issues. The move was condemned by Al Jazeera as a violation of journalistic freedom.
Earlier in May, the Knesset passed the Al Jazeera Law to close foreign channels deemed harmful to state security. The measure remains in effect until July 31, 2024, amid ongoing tensions in the region.
