In a recent turn of events at the National Assembly, the proposed bills for the ‘Kim Gun-hee Special Prosecutor Act,’ ‘Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act,’ and the amendment to the Local Currency Act were rejected after a re-vote, prompting strong criticism from the opposition parties. They condemned the ruling party, accusing them of disregarding the will of the people.
Following the rejection, members of the Democratic Party, the Innovation Party, the Progressive Party, the Basic Income Party, and the Social Democratic Party held a ‘condemnation rally’ at the Assembly. During the rally, Park Chan-dae, the Democratic Party’s floor leader, criticized the ruling party for enabling President Yoon’s authoritarianism and protecting criminals.
Park vowed to continue pushing for the Special Prosecutor Act until it is passed, emphasizing the need to address injustices and uphold the law. The Democratic Party plans to reintroduce the bills during the upcoming parliamentary audit, seeking justice for the victims and holding the ruling party accountable.
The opposition leader, Choo Mi-ae, mocked the ruling party by calling them the ‘Kim Gun-hee Power’ and ‘First Lady Power,’ highlighting their lack of integrity. She emphasized that justice will prevail and that the ruling party’s complicity will not go unpunished.
