US flights evacuate Americans from Lebanon to Istanbul

As tensions rise between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, the US has taken steps to ensure the safety of American citizens in the region. In response to the escalating conflict, the US organized a flight from Beirut to Istanbul to facilitate the departure of over 100 Americans and their family members.

According to State Department spokesman Matthew Miller, 7,000 Americans have registered for information on leaving Lebanon. While not all are seeking assistance to depart, the US government is working to enhance flight capacity in the region by contracting with additional carriers.

The priority for the US is to ensure the safe transport of American citizens out of Lebanon amidst the ongoing turmoil. By increasing the availability of flights, the US aims to provide resources and support to those looking to leave the region.
