Israeli Airstrike in Central Beirut Kills at Least 6 People

Earlier this week, Lebanon was rocked by an Israeli airstrike in central Beirut that resulted in the deaths of at least 6 people, according to the Health Ministry. The strike occurred in the residential Bashoura district, near key government buildings and the Lebanese parliament.

Reports emerged that phosphorous bombs, banned internationally, were used in the attack. The airstrike targeted the Islamic Health Authority Center in Bashoura, causing chaos and destruction in the area.

Residents reported a sulfur-like smell after the bombing, highlighting the devastation caused by the attack. This incident marks the first Israeli strike in central Beirut since the conflict in 2006, with multiple strikes reported in Beirut’s southern Dahiyeh suburbs as well.

As tensions continue to escalate, an American resident from Dearborn, Michigan, Kamel Ahmad Jawad, was also tragically killed in Lebanon. The White House expressed deep condolences, underscoring the gravity of civilian casualties in the region.

The situation remains tense as the conflict unfolds, with innocent lives caught in the crossfire of political and military maneuvers.
