In a daring move, drones operated by Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) attacked the Borisoglebsk military airfield in Russia’s Voronezh Oblast. The operation, reportedly carried out with Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces, targeted Russian warehouses and aviation facilities. The Russian Defense Ministry claimed to have destroyed 113 Ukrainian drones, but the accuracy of this information remains unverified.
The SBU source mentioned the use of guided aerial bombs to reduce the enemy’s ability to threaten Ukrainian cities with fighter jets equipped with KABs. These precision-guided munitions are cost-effective and launched from Russian territory, beyond Ukrainian air defense’s reach. President Zelensky disclosed that Russia had used nearly 900 guided bombs against Ukraine in the past week.
Ukrainian forces had previously attacked military airfields and other strategic sites in Voronezh Oblast. This latest strike underlines Ukraine’s determination to defend itself against Russian aggression. The use of drones in such operations showcases Ukraine’s innovative tactics in the face of a formidable adversary.
