BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 4. The Azerbaijani Army launched ‘Operation Iron Fist’, a counter-offensive against Armenian armed forces on September 27, 2020, resulting in the liberation of Azerbaijani territories from nearly 30 years of occupation.
President Ilham Aliyev announced the liberation of Jabrayil city and several villages, addressing the nation and being interviewed by Al Arabiya TV. The Azerbaijani Army additionally liberated multiple settlements and President Aliyev congratulated commanders for their successes.
First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva celebrated the victories on Instagram, while the flag was hoisted in the recently liberated Sugovushan village. Tragically, civilians were killed and injured due to Armenian shelling in Beylagan and Ganja, prompting legal action against Armenian officials.
The Prosecutor General appealed to international organizations, released lists of injured individuals, and honored National Hero Mubariz Ibrahimov. The Ministry of Defense showcased captured Armenian weapons and equipment in Jabrayil.
