PTI claims curfew-like situation in Punjab to thwart protests

Opposition PTI accused the Punjab government of creating a curfew-like situation in Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, and Mianwali to prevent protests against inflation and for judicial independence and the release of Imran Khan. PTI’s Information Secretary claimed the government was sealing cities to stop protests, with Section 144 imposed in several districts. Despite restrictions, PTI workers managed to hold rallies, facing tear gas and police barriers.

The police were criticized for turning cities into “containeristan” and disrupting residents’ movements. PTI uploaded footage of protests in various cities and claimed 500 workers were detained. The government was accused of using the police against PTI and overreacting to the protest call. The Information Secretary lamented the sealing of the Red Zone in Islamabad to prevent PTI’s demonstration.

Overall, PTI’s protests against government policies faced heavy police presence and restrictions, leading to clashes and arrests in several cities.
