Israel inflicts heavy casualties on Lebanon in capital attack

Israel carried out an airstrike in central Beirut, killing at least nine people in retaliation for clashes with Hezbollah. The strike targeted a building near parliament, causing widespread damage and casualties. Lebanese health officials confirmed the death toll and injuries.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was assassinated, dealing a significant blow to the group and its allies. In response, Hezbollah fighters engaged Israeli forces in Lebanon, escalating tensions in the region. Iran’s proxy groups, including the Houthis and armed factions in Iraq, also launched attacks in support of Hamas against Israel.

Amid the conflict, Iran launched a massive missile attack on Israel, prompting threats of retaliation. However, U.S. President Joe Biden urged Israel to act proportionally and coordinated a response with G-7 leaders. Western nations prepared to evacuate citizens from Lebanon as the crisis intensified, with over 1.2 million Lebanese displaced by the conflict.

Escalating Conflict in the Middle East

The situation remains volatile as Israel deploys more troops and Hezbollah continues its resistance against Israeli forces. The region teeters on the edge of a wider conflict, with global leaders calling for de-escalation and a diplomatic resolution to prevent further bloodshed.
