The Falklands Petrel Fishing Company Ltd., part of Fortuna Group and Galician associate Pescapuerta Group, unveiled the cutting-edge trawler-freezer F/V Prion in Marin, Spain. The vessel, with a displacement of 2,500 GT and measuring 85 meters in length, is set to begin operations in the Falklands waters during the 2025 squid season.

Designed in collaboration with Nodosa shipyard, Prion is a symbol of technological advancement, energy efficiency, and environmental friendliness. The ceremony, attended by key figures from the regional government of Galicia and the fishing industry, marked a milestone in fleet renewal and commitment to sustainable practices.

With advanced features like reduced emissions, innovative freezing capabilities, and enhanced crew safety, Prion represents a new era in sustainable fishing practices. The vessel’s design, optimized for efficiency and environmental impact, highlights the industry’s dedication to responsible fishing.
