British singer Charli XCX’s alignment with the Democratic Party while turning a blind eye to ongoing war crimes has raised questions about her role as a cultural influencer.
Former President Barack Obama recently mentioned Charli XCX and her music in an interview, showcasing the popstar’s influence on mainstream culture. While her latest album ‘brat’ gained immense popularity, it also served as a tool for the Democratic Party to whitewash their controversial actions.
Despite her seemingly progressive image, Charli’s political stance came under scrutiny as she endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, labeling her as a ‘brat.’ This move was criticized given Harris’ involvement in human rights violations in the Middle East.
By associating her music and aesthetics with political figures like Harris, Charli inadvertently became a pawn in the party’s agenda, overshadowing her previous efforts to amplify marginalized voices.
As Charli’s influence expands, her decision to align with political powers accused of atrocities raises concerns about the intersection of art, culture, and politics in contemporary society.
