Armed assailants rustled at least 50 head of cattle from traders near Mogiri town in Juba County. The traders were en route to Juba to sell their livestock when they were attacked along the Juba-Bor Highway. One suspected thief was killed in self-defense when the traders fought back.
Despite the thieves making off with around 100 cattle, 50 were successfully recovered after a pursuit. The identity of the assailants remains unknown, but they were seen heading towards Mangalla town armed and through the bushes.
The Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) Information Minister, Oleyo Akwer Nyalus, has condemned the raid and called on all armed individuals to refrain from targeting business people. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by traders in the region and the need for increased security measures to protect livestock and those transporting them.
