A leadership crisis has erupted within the Action People’s Party (APP) in Rivers State just ahead of the local government elections. A Federal High Court in Port Harcourt granted an order for substituted service in a case filed by Destiny Omereji and five others against APP and 27 others.
The plaintiffs claim to be the legitimate leaders of the party, having emerged through the 2022 Congress recognized by INEC in Rivers State. They seek the reinstatement of Hart Badom as the State Chairman of APP and question the legitimacy of 23 chairmanship candidates.
Justice Emmanuel Obelle presided over the case, granting the expedited motion for substituted service. The crisis has sparked concerns about the party’s candidates who switched from the PDP to APP amid internal disputes.
