APC criticizes PDP protest at INEC office

PDP Protests Outcome of Edo State Governorship Election

Leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State recently marched to the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Benin to protest against the outcome of the September 21 governorship election in the state. The election results declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress as the winner, leading to allegations of manipulation by the PDP.

Despite heavy security presence, PDP members and leaders were seen carrying banners with messages demanding a fair review of the election results. The Publicity Secretary of the Edo APC dismissed the protests, stating that the results were a reflection of the people’s choice.

During the protest, PDP leaders called on INEC to reconsider the results and declared their intention to present evidence at the tribunal. They emphasized their commitment to a peaceful resolution, while maintaining their stance on reclaiming what they believe is a stolen mandate.

The ongoing dispute highlights the political tensions in Edo State and sets the stage for a potentially contentious legal battle as both parties remain adamant in their claims.
